math is about translating what the formulas and rules are saying into what it actually means. If you understand the notation then you are understanding math. It is like a visual language we could play around with. It is also kind of like science where you get results by the way you put the factors together. Part of what you learn is understanding the way something is working by the process then putting it in application but most of all what it is and what it could be.
