solve the polynomial equation. in order to obtain the first root, use synthetic division to test the possible rational roots. x^3+6x^2+21x+26=0

OpenStudy (amistre64):

possible roots are what; factors of 26/factors of 1?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (amistre64):

1,26 ; 2, 13; cant think of any more :) make em +- of course

OpenStudy (amistre64):

2 | 1 6 21 26 0 2 16 ----------- 1 8 ... doesnt seem to be a root.....

OpenStudy (amistre64):

-2 | 1 6 21 26 0 -2 -8 -26 -------------- 1 4 13 0 .... x = -2 is a root i think

OpenStudy (amistre64):

(x+2)(x^2 +4x +13)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

thats all she wrote on that one, the quadratic doesnt touch the x axis so no more roots allowed

OpenStudy (amistre64):

do you agree? or wanna know how i did it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry.....I agree
