use your standard formula for the volume of a cylinder for the complete volume to get a value for complete air. Then compute the same volume this time w/ 1/4 of the height of the total cylinder to get a volume for the water. Subtract the 1/4 volume value from the total to get what you need. If the height of the cylinder is 4 units, then (1/4) of that is 1. Do you see what I'm getting at? You should have no problem solving it this way.
