in 1982, there were 77.2 LB of beef per person consumed in the U.S. The average family consisted of 3.1 people. Farmers received 57 centers per LB for beef. On the average, how many cents did the farmers receive from each family's purchase of beef? please help :)

If 77.2 lbs per person.. Then a family of 2 would be 2 * 77.2 a family of 3 would be 3 * 77.2 a family of 3.1 would be 3.1 * 77.2 = 239.32 So each family (3.1 people) would consume 239.32 lbs of beef. Farmer get 57 cents for each of the pounds. .57 * 239.32 = $136.41
