22.8 deaths ---------- 100,000 people ???????? deaths ------------ 3,500,000 people These ratios are the same so you put them equal to each other. 22.8 x ---------- = ------------ 100,000 3,500,000 Cross multiply 22.8(3,500,000) = 100,000x 79,800,000 = 100,000x x = 798 deaths
