not sure if this question went through. y+x=-8 what is the y-intercept? write in ordered pair form. (0,-8) is that correct? Thank you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

when x = 0 the only place for the line to go is somewhere along the y axis, the intercept. and yes, when x = 0, the only option for y is to be -8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

right, like amistre64 said, but perhaps I can frame it better, no disrespect to amistre64: y-axis | | | | | ---------------------------------------x-axis It is the point where your line(determined by your equation) INTERCEPTS the y-axis. Hence, it is called the y intercept. so, along the y axis, x is 0. so if you want to find out the y-intercept of your equation, just plug x = 0 in the equation.
