7|x|+6=-|x|-4

I think I know how to do it: I need to solve this for x, I did the following: 7|x|+6=-|x|-4 8|x|+6=-4 8|x|=-10 |x|=-10/8 however, since i need to find x, not |x|, I think the answer x is EITHER positive OR negative, it can be any case, so is it correct to say that: x = -10/8 OR 10/8 Yust want to know if I am right

i think you're right

since \[\left[ x \right] = \sqrt{x ^{2}}\]
