how to change the boot order in the new (2011 build) GRUB?

First open your Ubuntu Software center and search StartUp-Manager. Double-click on setup to install. You can also use - sudo apt-get install startupmanager After installation go System >> Administration >>StartUp-Manager and open it. Now you are on StartUp-Manager Window. Open drop-down list of default operating system and select as you like. You can change the length of time for which the boot menu shown.

You can open a terminal and type sudo su and enter the root password. Then type chmod 744 /boot/grub/grub.cfg in terminal. Then vim /boot/grub/grub.cfg Now you will find the order of the grub menu entry you can copy paste and comment according to ur wish. . .
