I'm writing a sonnet and finding it difficult. What's the difference between a soft syllable and a hard one, like in a Shakespearean sonnet?

When we speak, we put stress on some syllables and not on others. A stressed syllable, is spoken strongly and most often than not louder than the second syllable. In a strong syllable the vowel is strong, and in a weak syllable the vowel is weak and neutral.
