help me solve this exponential equation without using logarithms? 3^(2x+1) = 70

I don't think you can, it looks like you have to natural log both sides and solve it like that.

You can only solve something like that without logs if the constant on the right hand side is also a power of 3. Then you can just equate the exponents. In this case though 70 is not a power of 3.
