what is 7/9 ÷ 5/6 =

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Whenever you divide fractions, it goes like this:\[\frac{a}{b} \div \frac{c}{d}=\frac{a}{b} \times \frac{d}{c}=\frac{ad}{bc}\]See how the last fraction flipped over? So here,\[\frac{7}{9} \div \frac{5}{6}=\frac{7}{9}\times \frac{6}{5}=\frac{42}{45}\]

But...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\frac{42}{45}=\frac{2 \times 3 \times 7}{3 \times 3 \times 5}=\frac{2 \times 7}{ 3 \times 5}=\frac{14}{15}\]

This is the simplest form of the fraction, since we've cancelled out a common factor of 3 from the numerator and denominator.
