You turn these into two equations 3x + 2 > 4 or 3x + 2 < -4 Solve each one separately 3x + 2 > 4 becomes 3x > 2 x > 2/3 The 3x + 2 < -4 becomes 3x < -6 x < -2 Answer is x < -2 or x > 2/3
