Addition of fractions. convert to a fraction with a common denominator and then combine. A common denominator could be (x-2)(x+2)
Remember any change you have made to the appearance of the denominator you must make a similar adjustment to the numerator.
Walking thru the first fraction 8/(x-2). I am going to multiply the denominator by (x+2) getting a new and soon to be common denominator of (x-2)(x+2). Now I must do the same to the numerator making it 8(x+2) The first fraction now appears as (8(x+2))/(x-2)(x+2) You finish the second fraction and perform the addition. I gotta go.
