how would i make this problem simplified and positive exponents? 2xy^-4/2xy^4

OpenStudy (amistre64):

1/y^8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2xy^-4/2xy^4 To get rid of the -4 exponent you take it to the other side of the / sign so you get 2x ---- 2xy^4y^4 combine the y terms 2x ------ 2xy^8 Now you can cancel the 2x's 1 ---- xy^8

oops 1 ----- y^8
