A health food store sells oatmeal for $3.60 per pound and bran flakes for $4.80 per pound. How many pounds of each should be used to get a mixture of 30 pounds that sells for $4.00 a pound?

I'd say 28, but just guessing.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oops..sorry, wrong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'd say you need 1.33 times as much oatmeal.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think it is 17 bran and 13 oatmeal.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oops..vice versa....17 oatmeal and 13 bran

Don't ask how I figured it out...4 bags difference somewhere..30 split in half needs 4 more...15-2, 15+2..comes to 17, 13

I went to Rasmussen online for a semester..they gave questions like these, I hated them. They also messed up my Financial Aid and dropped my grades after Disability papers in English....nasty, nasty experience
