A building cast a 120m shadow at the same time that a 2m owletpole casts a 27.5m shadow. how tall is the building?

this is a ratio problem
use 2 fractions one for the building the other for the flagpole and set them equal to each other. This mean they are proportional to each other.
put the length of the shadows in the denominator
-> x/120= 2/27.5
multiply by 120 on both sides
-> x = (120*2)/27.5
