Use the similar solids shown to solve a-d.. please help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the key to start if off is the side with 13.2 inches on the second prism compared to the side that has 9.9 inches on the smaller one on the left. find the ration between the two and you can solve all following questions

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the second prism is bigger than the first by a factor of 1/3. 9.9 times 4/3 gives 13.2 . Then use the other side you are given and multiply by 4/3 as well.

To find the only other unknown side you need to use the fact that you have a triangle with 2 equal sides and a right angle to figure the length of the other side. You know one side is 9.9 inches and you have a 45 degree angle. So use trigonometry to find the other side.

so the scale factor would be 4/3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes that is correct. I mentioned 1/3 only because 9.9 +9.9/3 gives you 13.2

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so how would i find the height of prism B

??
