Use the similar solids shown to solve a-d.. please help
i thought i solved it for you a while ago?
height of prism b is 20 inches
no i need help with b-d
ok so you know what the volume is right. ok you have a triangular base and you multiply the area of that base by your height which is 15. So, you need to figure out the other sides of youre triangle using this method. (.5*9.9*(height of the triangular base)=volume)
huh
???
cos45*9.9 inches is the length of the other side of the triangular base of ur prism
i dont have a math calculator
ok its 7. to prove that its right...3.5*7*15 is the volume in ur question. then to find the volume of prism b all u do is 4/3 times 7 for your other length and then it should be clear how you proceed
i dont want to just give you all the answers, I think you should be able to figure it out from here based on what i have said.
i still dont understand
no but what dont you understand. The volume of a prism with a triangular base is .5*base (which in your case is 7 for prism a)*height of triangle(also 7 since both sides are equal)*length of the prism(15). all you need to do to solve the other problem is to apply the scaling factor to all numbers in the equation and voila , you got the volume for b
do not just apply the scaling factor to your volume, that would be wrong
i won't give you the answer but your answer should be more than 800 and less than 900 :)
