A Fence Around a square farden has a perimeter of 48 ft. find the approximate length of the diagonal of this square garden.

OpenStudy (radar):

What do you know about a square's perimeter? Do you know the formula for the perimeter of a square?

OpenStudy (radar):

As you think about the perimeter, what do you know about the angles of a square?

You can onlyl learn if you participate. I will go 50-50 with you on this. The perimeter of a square of side s is: P=4s

OpenStudy (radar):

With that little piece of knowledge, you can now calculate the length of the sides of this square garden which you intend to fence. 48 = 4s. divide both sides by 4. You realize that what you do to an equation on one side you must do to the other otherwise you make the equation unequal. So dividing both sides by 4 gives you s=12 ft. It is 12 foot square. Now you can calculate the length of the diagonal.

OpenStudy (radar):

Have you come to any conclusions about: 1. What is the angle of a square corner? And what kind of triangle does the diagonal form with the sides?
