OpenStudy (asdf123):

When simplified, the numerical value of 222 + 1 has three prime factors. Determine these three different prime factors of 222 + 1.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

222+ 1 = 223 and isnt 223 a prime number itself? so it cannot have 3 prime factors

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh wait it says when simplified. um maybe its a different answer in that case. sorry. can anybody confirm my reply?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No, you're right. 223 is a prime, so it has only two distinct factors (by definition): 1 and itself.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks for confirming! so it technically cannot be simplfied any further because its prime itself.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

"Simplified" is probably a wrong word to use. It has no non-trivial divisors / factors. 1 qualifies as trivial. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohhhhh okay. thanks for the clarification :)
