It is not necessary to take a math course before taking this course but it may be helpful depending on the math level you are already at.

i took basic math in high school-yeaaarrrs ago. no algebra, nada. just basic math is all i know.where would you suggest i start?

Math levels up to calculus are used when doing advanced programming. For this course there is some algebra but I think that is it. So far I haven't had to use any calculus but I might in the future I don't know. Also if you are really interested in programming and are dedicated then it shouldn't matter you may just have to work a little harder to come up with a solution. So it's kind of up to you whether you take a math course or not. Personally I would say you need to learn algebra but others may say otherwise I don't know.
