Hello , do you guys have any tips on helping with faster learning and concentration . ps I recently started to read a book on php and mysql and i would like to learn asmuch as possible .
Well what are you trying to learn do you want to learn python, php, mysql or what?
php and mysql since both are needed for web creation :)
I can research it and find where a good place to start is but I don't know anywhere from my own experience.
Oh, that would be great . thanks :).
Are you currently learning a computer language or do you know any>?
I'm learning python but one of my friends taught himself php, sql, and html. So I am going to ask him where he started. If I like the info he gives me I'll pass it on if not I'll find somewhere myself.
Oh cool , i got started on python awhile back but i never got around to writing anything big. hows it going so far in your quest to learn python ?
It's alright I'm using MIT's opencourseware it's pretty good but my goal isn't to use python for anythong big. I'm just using it as like a "gateway" programming language, like to get a good programming foundation.
I was thinking of taking python up again and the continuing on to C++ , how about we become python buddies :) , ofcourse my goal it to learn php and C++ but i think python is a good starter language :) ...p.s nice dm5 pic :)
dm5 fan sick haha most people on here don't know what it is or just haven't said anything about it. We can become python buddies if you want but there would be no difference than just using openstudy because whenever I'm on computer I'm on openstudy.
Do you have gtalk?
Nope
I can make one though...?
As an aside, you can make dynamic websites using python. PHP is not a requirement. In fact I typically prefer python to php for making websites. There are a number of very nice web frameworks in python that make it very fast/easy. Really all you need to know is HTML, SQL, and a programming language and you'll do well. Javascript and CSS is also extremely useful. You can also use other databases like sqLite or PostgreSQL. (The latter is again my preference). If you have questions about python programming in general feel free to ask either here or in the general computer science section.
polpak : Hmm . Do you Recommend any books for beginners ? .A
Ony . That would be cool . and yes :) you should make one :) My email is eaux.os@gmail.com
Beginners books for which, python? php? SQL? HTML? something else?
PHP Is what im most interested.. and do you have any tips on learning this language. :)
My tip would be, don't do it! ;p But I'm biased. I hate php.
Anything php does, python does better.
can You Expand On That. ?? And what is ASP?
ASP is microsoft's Active Server Pages. And they are one of the few web technologies worse IMO than PHP.
Ok Im slightly familiar with python . What OS do you recomend i run python in linux or windows ?
Do you have Gtalk? Or A chat client?
You can run python in either. I strongly recommend using linux for hosting websites however.
Hmm. What Do you think is the best whay to learn Python? are there any books or pages you would recomend?
I would certainly recommend reading the books for the MIT Opencourseware intro to computer programming class. That should give you a good start.
And doing the course exercises also.
Can you give me a link? Please :).
