hi all i have learned basics of C/C++ and PHP can anyone tell me where i can find some open source projects or startUps for applying my knowledges may be someone will to coach me

one of the nice places to contribute to the Open Source movement while expanding your knowledge is freshmeat.net

another way is to find a local Linux User Group ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linux_User_Group) , and ask the guys there to help you get starter in the OpenSource development. just do a google search "linux user group Boston" or something like that.

Maybe try SourceForge or Ohloh?

google Project Euler. There are tons of puzzles to test your programming skills. it ranges from super easy to super hard. I think you'll like it.

There's also a good number of relatively simple coding tasks archived from previous Google Code Jams. +1 on Project Euler suggestion.
