Hi Guys! Can anyone explain to me what is a String Theory? Is it related to Einstein's Relativity theory?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its a theory that postulates that subatomic particles are one - dimensional strings

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It disagrees with Einstein's Theory, in the same way his theory disagrees with Newton's. Basically, particles are not dimensionless, but they are 1 dimension strings, or p-dimensional p-brains, vibrating in 10 dimensions, 6 of which are curled up in a Calabi-Yao space. This leads to many different predictions about the inner symmetry of the universe.

So this String theory have been observed just as good as General Relativity did? Is this related to quantum mechanics?
