how to I solve (3x-2y) squared?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Does it equal something?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Then you can't really 'solve' it. You can multiply it out if you like, but it's just an expression.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In math you have to be precise with language; 'solve' means a lot of different things; are you trying to expand it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it just say =

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It equals a lot of different things.

So it is telling you to expand it or express it in a different way: let 3x = a and -2y = b. Use the FOIL method and you get a^2 - 2ab + b^2
