if a linear function is a straight line on a graph, does that mean it has no maximum?
hey you helped me earlier
hey
depends on your domain.
how do i find the domaiin
i know xis greater than or = to 0
if the domain is from -infinity to +infinity, then the straight line has no maxima or minima.
then your boundary values are where the line will have a maxima or minima
so plug in x = 0 in your equation and see what the output is. That should be your minima.
you dont have a maxima because there is no boundary to infinity.
when i solved for the max, i used -b/2a and came up with x=2500
then i plugged that into p(2500)= -.01(2500)^2+50(2500)+30000 to come up with 92500
when i plugged in 0 into the equation, i got 30,000
your equation is quadratic. it is not a straight line.
your question was to do with straight lines.
how did you kknow it is a quadratic
because p(x) = -.01x^2 +50x+30000
there is an x^2 term. so it is quadratic---> not a straight line.
then the question isAnnual profit in thousands of dollars is given by the function, P(x) = -.01x2 + 50x + 30,000, where x is the number of items sold, x ≥ 0. then graph the profit function over its given domain
use the 5 values to construct the graph 1,2,3,4,5
you already asked me this question. I thought i had replied earlier
yes but the graph
i know the rest
how would i graph this?
would y then be 1 30049.99 2 30099.96 3 30149.91 4 30199.84 5 30249.75
P(x) | | | | | | |---------------------------------------->X
can anyone help?
