solve for x. log5 5=x the first 5 is small and the second is big. Please help :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x =1 basically ur asking urself wat does 5 ^ x equal, and thats 1 :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the base 5 (small 5) is the main number, w.e the expression equals is the exponent, and wat that equals, is ur big 5 :) hope that helps!

thanks....is there any other way of explaining it? haha im still some what confused :/

mk, well first of all what grade are you in?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

12th

kk, so basically with logarithms, you will have this form \[\log_{a} b = c\] when u want to turn this into exponential form, it becomes, \[a ^{c} =b\] so in this question since, x was ur c, it was a^c = b, in this case, 5 ^x = 5.

that a bit better?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes thanks!

perfect then!, your welcome
