What is the area of a rhombus when d1=(x+4) and d2= (2y-4)?

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

what does d1 and d2 refer to?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

diagonal1 and diagonal2

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

ok the area is d1*d2/2 ->(x+4)*(2y-4) /2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so would that be (2xy+8y-4x)/2?

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

dont forget to multiply the 4 by -4 -> (2xy + 8y-4x-16)/2

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

factor a 2 out which will cancel with the 2 in the denominator

OpenStudy (anonymous):

looks like dumbcow isn't really dumb :)

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

why dont you go take a catnap

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Would that become xy+4y-2x-8?

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

correct
