I believe I have the formula wrong for this one, because it doesn't check out. Amy paid $54.77 for a pair of running shoes during a 25% off sale. What was the regular price? I used the formula 54.77 = 25% * m where m is the regular price got 219.08 for the regular price and it doesn't sound right

OpenStudy (amistre64):

Price - Price(%off) = Paid for price

OpenStudy (amistre64):

Price(1-.25) = 54.77 Price = 54.77/.75

OpenStudy (amistre64):

73.02 or 73.03

OpenStudy (amistre64):

another way to look at it is to divide 54.77 by 3 and then add 54.77 back to it. That gives you 1/4 + 3/4 = 1

OpenStudy (amistre64):

73.026 same price lol

i never would have figured that one out! I did the check and it works out! 73.03 x 25% = 18.26 73.03 - 18.26 = 54.77
