x^2 + x what number is in front of the x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its harder to me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there is an x^2 term and an x term what number do you see right before the x (or what number is right before the x when you don't see a number)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

maybe 1 Because x=1 correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x does not equal one but there is 1x in the problem so you are correct to it is 1. So.. to complete the square you always take 1/2 of that number ... so half of 1 is 1/2 Then you square that number 1/2 * 1/2 = 1/4
