what is 33 1/3% of 27?? With an explination please???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

change percent to decimal then multiply ("of") by 277

OpenStudy (anonymous):

.33 x 270 = 89.1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

.33 x 27 = 8.91

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry about that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so what happens to the 1/3 on the problem??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1/3 = .33 so it becomes part of the repeating decimal to convert from percent to decimal move decimal two places to the left

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Its like this: 0.33 percent is .33. 1/3 percent is 0.0033333... So when you add them you get 0.333333.... We know that this is the same as 1/3 So 33 1/3% of 27 is the same thing as 1/3 of 27

OpenStudy (anonymous):

33 percent >_<

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok i get that!! Can u help me on a couple more questions i have??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

awesome!! K Express 2 3/4 as a decimal??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2 is the whole part and 3/4 changes to .75 you can get that from mental math (quarters in a dollar) or do long division 3/4 so answers is 2.75

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok i get that. so if its not something like 3/4 which is .75 or 1/4 which is .25 and its something like 5 2/3 i would put 5 before the decimal and then divide 2 by 3 and that would b my answer??
