Simplify the following expression by first using the distributive property and then combining like terms : y^2+3y-4(2-y^2)+7y-1

The part that needs to be distributed is -4(2-y^2). You multiply -4 by both 2 and -y^2, so we have -4*2 - -4*y^2 or -8+4y^2. Now we can combine like terms, starting with the y^2 terms. We have y^2+4y^2 or 5y^2. Now the y terms: 3y+7y which is 10y. Then the numbers, -8 and -1 or -9. So the final answer is 5y^2+10y-9.
