find dy/dx: y=5u^2 + u -1 u=3x+1 I get 3(20x+11) or (60x+33)

Once you substitute 3x+1for u into the original equation, y, you simplify a little bit. I got y=45x^2+33x+5. So dy/dx is 90x+33.
