Hi! I need help with difference equations

OpenStudy (anonymous):

DO you have an example?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Car has 14 gallon gas tank that is filled as as soon as level drops below a half tank Every time it is filled up, you add 1 quart (1/4) gallon of an additive.......

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is the difference equation that models \[A _{n}=7 + .25\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that is what I have for difference equation and initial value that models the amount of additive in tame at the time of the nth fill-up

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well I have an=.25Asub o + 7

OpenStudy (amistre64):

4 quarts or 8 quarts to a gallon?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4 so 1/4 = .25

OpenStudy (amistre64):

so (7 - .25) gallons is the amount of gas put in at each fill up

OpenStudy (amistre64):

n number of times...... right?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if you try to add a quart after filling up the tank, theres no room for it in the example....

OpenStudy (amistre64):

14 gallon tank cant hold 14.25 gallons...... right?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

so the amount of gas is 6.75n and the amount of additive is .25n ..... the total amount of gas and additives used at the nth time is ..... if I understand your question correctly :)

equation editor messing up but have to run will be back in about 3 hours for more help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks!
