Factor if possible, k^2-12k+20

OpenStudy (chrissy):

(k-10)(k-2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How'd you get that? If you don't mind explaining?

OpenStudy (chrissy):

well what u want to do is find 2 numbers that will multiply to make 20 and add to make -12

OpenStudy (chrissy):

so find factors of 20 which are 4 and 5 or 10 and 2

OpenStudy (chrissy):

10 and 2 make 12 so now all u have to worry about is the sign ( neg or positive)

OpenStudy (chrissy):

(k-2)(k-10) ........ -10-2=-12.... -10*-2=20

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay. Thank you!

OpenStudy (chrissy):

np :)
