I'm looking for a good read on the complete history of computer programming. Something that covers things like the impact of old or now defunct languages and the emergence of OOP. Recommendations?
There are tons of great books on the history of computers, but none have the depth and breadth of Wikipedia. Search history of computers and explore.
If you're looking for information on computer languages, take a look at concepts of Programming languages by Robert Sebesta. It's kind of an overview of a lot of different languages and how they relate.
Thanks guys. Yeah, that's kind of what I've been doing already, link-hopping on Wikipedia. So much to absorb. That book sounds like a good reference, thanks again, I'll check it out!
I wouldn't mind a concrete recommendation on this one, it'd be a good read.
