2 letters are picked at random from the letters in the word mathematics, without replacement. what is the probability that they are both vowels?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

there are 4 vowels. The total number of letters is 11.The probability for both to be vowels is probability for the first event * probability for the second event The probability for the first letter to be a vowel is 4/11.The proability for the second one also to be a vowel is 3/10 (since the letters are not replaced) total probability is 4/11 * 3/10 = 0.1090
