2d^2+5d-3=0 solve

OpenStudy (anonymous):

d= 0.443005, -1.693

OpenStudy (gw2011):

d=1/2 and d=-3 This is the solution: Factor the equation 2d^2+5d-3=0 into the following: (2d-1)(d+3)=0 2d-1=0 2d=1 d=1/2 d+3=0 d=-3 Since there are two factors involved (2d-1) and (d+3), then there are two solutions to the original equation. You can check these two solutions d=1/2 and d=-3 by substituting first d=1/2 into the original equation and you will get zero; and then you can substitute the other value d=-3 into the original equation and again you will get zero.
