The populations P (in thousands) of Las Vegas, Nevada from 1990 to 2004 can be modeled by the following where t is the year, with t = 0 corresponding to 1990. In 2000, the population was approximately 478,000. P = 258.0e^kt (a) Find the value of k for the model. Round your result to four decimal places.

Help please!

\[P = 258e^{kt}\] And we know that when t = 10 (in 2000), P = 478000 . Use logs and you should be able to do it.

thanks!

Well i solved it but the answer I got which was .7524 is being marked incorrect. I may be doing something wrong.

Oh, sorry, you need to use 478000 as 478 (and the formula gives it in thousands) - or use 258000
