a flea is 0.2 cm long. as it walks across the glass surface of an overhead projector, its image on the screen appears to be 4cm long. what is the scale factor of the dilation? if the flea jumps 10cm across the glass surface, how far does its image jump across the screen?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

0.2n=4 to get the scale factor, n= 20, so if the flea jumps 10cm, 10(20) = 200cm.

what is the distance between a point and its image after the translation (x,y) --> (x+7, y-5)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the square root of (x+7)^2 + (y-5)^2. That is all under the root. If you were to plug in an initial point (x,y) this would give you an exact distance.
