can someone help me find the four solutions to this equation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[y ^{4}-256=0\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well you start by putting y on one side and 256 on the other

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and then what?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well what did you get, write it on the screen

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I actually don't know exactly what that's supposed to look like. Do I just add 256 to one side?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so \[y ^{4}=256\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now take the 4th root of both sides

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(y^4-16^2)=(y^2-16)(y^2+16) (y-4)(y-4)(y^2+16)
