6 = 2 * 3 12 = 2 * 2 * 3 18 = 2 * 3 * 3 They all have one 2 and one 3 multiply those numbers together plus any of the numbers that hey didn't have in common 2 * 3 * 2 (left over from the 12) * 3 (left over from the 18) 2 * 3 * 2 * 3 = 36
