while on vacation Kevin went for a swim. Swimming against the current took 8 min. to go 200 meters coming back took half as long. Find Kevin's average swimming speed and the water current.

d= rt 200m = 8 min ( Kevin- Current) Kevin - current = 25m/min 200m = 4 min (Kevin + current) Kevin + current = 50 Now you add subtract Kevin - current from Kevin + current to get... Kevin + current - (Kevin - current) = 50m/min - 25m/min 2 current = 25m/min current = 12.5m/min Now we plug current in and solve Kevin + 12.5m/min = 50 Kevin = 37.5m/min Hope that helps
