factor monomial completely 66d^4
2 3 11 d d d d are factors and there are others such as 33, 2, but those can be factored further or at least the 33 can. Why are you wanting to factor it?
my teacher wants it to be factored :/
Oh, you will need to have that skill later on as you progress in math.
yeah i know i never have been able to get a handle on math
Practice!, you know the old saying, "no pain, no gain"
thats the problem i do practice and never get it i just end up pissed off
O.K here is a similar one. Factor 56y^3
i dont know how to do any of this at all cause my teacher doesnt teach it he just gives the assighnments and tells us to figure it out
factoring is finding what when multiplied will equal that number. In this case the number is 56, it is an even number so you should be able to guess one factor. any ideas
2
Right on! what is 2 multiplied by to get 56?
28?
Yes, but 28 is also a even number so it can be factored further. keep score of your factors. You have 2, and you are working on 28, again since 28 is even what is a good guess for a factor?
2 and 14 2 and 7
you are on a roll. that takes care of the 56 2, 2, 2, and 7 those numbers cannot be factored any further, and they are known as prime factors. now all that is left is the y^3 sometimes referred to as y cubed. that 3 tells you the y is used as a factor 3 times or y y y. Pretty simple after you get the hang of it. Good luck with it.
so then what would you do with 128pq^2
Well I know that 128 is even and 2 will definitely work, hummm 2 and 64, but 64 can be factored with 2 and 32, 32 is 2 x 16, 16 is 2 x 8, and 8 is 2. 2. 2 sure is a lot of 2s got count em
2^5 is the final answer?
I think there is 7 of em 2^7 now we got the other part which is self evident as pqq
ohh ok
i just checked with my calculator and 2^7=128 so answer could look like: 2 2 2 2 2 2 2 p q q 2^7 pqq
alright (:
Gotta run, keep practicing.
