how do i add fractions

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and how do i multiply fraction

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you find the LCM of the denominators. convert the fractions so that you get the fractions with the LCM in the denominators and then add up the numerator.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

give me an example. I will show you how

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3/8 times 5/6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in simplest form

OpenStudy (anonymous):

find the common denominator

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont kno how im only 12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@ jessica. just multiply the numerators and multiply the denominators. 3/8 times 5/6 = (3times 5) / (8 times 6) = 15 / 48

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanxxs

OpenStudy (anonymous):

dhatraditya explained it correctly. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now, 15 = 3 times 5 and 48 is 3 times 16 so 15/48 = (3 X 5) / (3 X 16) = 5/16 ( the 3 in the numerator and denominator cancel each other out)

OpenStudy (anonymous):
