First, factor out the 4x from every term. That will make it much easier.

i dont know what any of that means my teacher doesnt teach any of the material he just throws assighnments and tests in our faces and expects us to automatically know it

ok, so what part do you not understand? Do you know how to factor? It helps to know what you don't understand in the problem so that I can tell you what you need to know instead of things you might already know. Another thing, are you sure you have the equation right? More specifically, are the a, b, and c really there in the equation? I am not sure why they would be there.
