A force of 60 pounds is exerted along a rope attached to a crate at an angle of 30o above the horizontal. The crate is moved 29 feet. How much work has been accomplished? Round answer to one decimal place.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

60 lbs = 266.8 N 28 ft = 8.84 m the horizontal force would be 266.8cos(30) so W = F * d W = 266.8cos(30) * 8.84 W = 363.80 J

Ok well I did that originally but none of my answer choices match that...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A. 1,740.0 foot-pounds B. 2,009.2 foot-pounds C. 1,623.4 foot-pounds D. 1,816.3 foot-pounds E. 1,506.9 foot-pounds

oh..they dont' want in SI units... that's silly.. doing the exact same thing as i did up there but don't convert, notice they're using the same units given in the question, so i guess it's easier. but do the exact same thing and you'll get E. 1506.88
