if 7^(x-1)=6^x what is x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Gonna need a log or an ln to solve this one.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah, but how?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

when i do x-1 log 7 = x log 6 and divide by log 7, the x just cancels out. and im supposed to solve for x..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Brush up a little operation of logs. Bring one one side then you have log a - lob b = log a/b

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Don't lose your parens too.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[(x-1)log 7 = x log 6\] Distribute that log 7 to each term, bring all the terms with x to one side of the equation, etc. etc.

thansk! =D that makes sense!
