Does the Pythagorean Theorem work for any type of triangle?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

yes, but we have to modifiy it for non right triangles

OpenStudy (amistre64):

actually, the modified works for any triangle :) c^2 = a^2 + b^2 -2ab cosC

OpenStudy (amistre64):

a and b are any sides, and C is the angle between them

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

true technically speaking "Pythagorean theorem" only works for right triangles

OpenStudy (amistre64):

we call the modified version "the law of cosines" :)
