how do i solve this problem. y=1/2x-5

OpenStudy (amistre64):

its not a problem more so as a line on a graph. http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=y%3D%281%2F2%29x-5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

my bad graph i need to get the 2 points

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks for the link gonna try it

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the 2 easiest points are the intercetps; when y = 0 what does x have to be? when x = 0 what does y have to be?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

yeah, it even gives you the x and y intercepts at the site :) under properties of the line

OpenStudy (anonymous):

confused

OpenStudy (amistre64):

what 2 points you need to get?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if any 2 points will work; plug in a value for x and get the y from it

OpenStudy (amistre64):

when x = 0; y = -5 right? (0,-5) is one point

OpenStudy (anonymous):

stiil dont understand sorry

OpenStudy (amistre64):

when x = 2, y = -4; thats another point..(2,-4)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what goes where the question mark is x=2 y=1/2(?)-5 x=0
